Reed CarringerKeymasterThe Vols hit the practice field this morning, here are a few quick notes.
Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra was in attendance.
The QBs struggled with accuracy yesterday. In fact, Jones said they were 6/20 on routes vs air.
Today they were a little more accurate.
Worley had a good day and combined to go 8/9 in red zone situations vs air and in skeleton drills. His one incompletion was due to a Devrin Young drop.
Peterman was 4/7 with three off-target passes. Ferguson went 4/6 while Dobbs was 2/5.
Defensive back Michael Williams did not practice. He’s recovering from a shoulder injury and should be back in a few days.
Marlin Lane, Curt Maggitt and Justin King were in green jerseys. Mo Couch shed the green jersey today and was a full go.
Vincent Dallas continues to work with the second team at defensive back.
We’ll have a complete report from practice this afternoon.

Reed CarringerKeymasterThe Vols are still the favorite for Booth at this point. Not sure what caused him to postpone his commitment, but I’ve spoken to numerous people who cover recruiting nationally and all of them think he ends up a Vol…at least right now.

Reed CarringerKeymasterGetting Scarbrough will be a stretch. He’s pretty solid to Alabama, and Georgia is likely his number two destination. That said, he attended UT’s Jr. Day and had a great visit, plus it’s a long way until signing day. Is Saban at Bama next year? How about Richt at Georgia?

Reed CarringerKeymasterHow’d the trip to Neyland for the game go Coach_K?

Reed CarringerKeymasterIt’s absolutely amazing what Jones has been able to do in just a few months on the job . The 2014 class now ranks 6th per Rivals and 7th per 247Sports. GREAT start to his tenure for sure. It’s hard to imagine things going much better. Next up, winning games!

Reed CarringerKeymasterUT announced earlier in the week the Orange and White Game will be FREE with no ticket required.

Reed CarringerKeymasterBooth plans to visit April 6th and again for the Orange and White Game. Tennessee is one of the favorites to sign him for sure. As far as Belfort, he still hasn’t signed anywhere.

Reed CarringerKeymasterAlex Bars hasn’t publicly proclaimed any leaders at this point. Graham was Malone’s primary recruiter, so we’ll have to see how that influences his recruitment, but he has UT in his top 5 with OSU, ND, VU, and SC.

Reed CarringerKeymasterThere may be an online stream of the game but I doubt it will be televised. They haven’t announced firm plans in that regard yet and likely won’t until a week or so before the game. Have you been to any other SEC stadiums? At Florida and at Alabama this year would both be great places to start. Of course, at Oregon is a MUCH longer drive but would be even cooler!

Reed CarringerKeymasterHas Jay Graham leaving affected Jalen Hurd or any other prospects interest in the Vols
I’m sure it has, but we won’t know specifics until another coach is in place. I wouldn’t worry about his departure’s effect on Hurd. He’s highly interested in Tennessee, Graham or no Graham.

Reed CarringerKeymasterNot sure if you’ve followed our posts since, but we’re regularly adding visitors/targets to our 2014 targets page. Should have 20 more more up in the next few days.

Reed CarringerKeymasterWho were the 2 5-star recruits possibly visting for the UK game, and did they visit?
Have heard conflicting reports about Alexander. Some say he was at UT, others have reported he wasn’t. Trying to get to the bottom of that one. Lyle did visit for sure.

Reed CarringerKeymasterWhat position are we recruiting Blaise Taylor for?
Auburn is offering him the opportunity to player either WR or DB, at least right now, and I don’t think the Vols are telling him he has to stick to one side of the ball. However, no matter what either school says, he projects as more of a DB than WR.
"Life is tough, it's tougher if you're stupid."
Reed CarringerKeymasterAnd I agree with you on Kelly Jr. and Butch Jones. Hurd is an unbelievable talent, but you are on to something with his running style. He’s been durable so far, and college coaches will work with him on that. Something to watch, though.

Reed CarringerKeymasterThey have good depth on the offensive line this year, and aren’t especially shallow on the defensive line. Both of those units could be strengths for the Vols this year, but Tennessee could lose as many as six on both lines heading into 2014. Look for them to sign a ton of linemen on both sides of the ball next year, possibly more than half the class.

Reed CarringerKeymasterWho were the 2 5-star recruits possibly visting for the UK game, and did they visit?
Cliff Alexander, a 6-10, 240 pound power forward, and Jaquan Lyle, a 6-4, 180 pound point guard both visited. Both are considering UK this was an excellent game for them to visit.Â

Reed CarringerKeymasterHow many legacy recruits are there in the ’14 class…counting Wharton? Thanks. I’ll hang up and listen.
Here’s what I’ve got on legacies:
Vic Wharton, nephew of former Vol point guard Brandon Wharton.
Dillon Bates, son of Vol/Cowboys safety Bill Bates.
Neiko Creamer, son of Vol DB Andre Creamer.
Evan and Elliot Berry.
Andrew Shofner, grandfather played for General Neyland.
Cedrick Wilson Jr., his dad played receiver for the Vols.Anyone have any others?
"Life is tough, it's tougher if you're stupid."
Reed CarringerKeymasterNo matter how the Vols close out this year, he’s not going anywhere. With Maymon coming back next year, and the addition of several top recruits, he’ll have to win or he’ll be looking for a job. Personally, I think he’ll win big next season.

I’ve seen that number around 12-14 but am working on finding an exact and accurate answer. Just now turning my focus from the 2013 class to the 2014 class, so I should have an exact answer for you this week. Great question, thanks for posting.
"Life is tough, it's tougher if you're stupid."
Reed CarringerKeymasterI want to see Sedrick Palmer, Treyvon Paulk, Alex Bars, and Neiko Creamer, as well as others.
Alright! I’ve added them to the running list! Look for it later in the week. Thanks man.
