KNOXVILLE—Ethan Wolf, a 6-6, 240 pound tight end from Ohio, pledged to become a member of the Vols via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. Momentum is a huge factor in recruiting and there’s no denying that Butch Jones is one of the nation’s hottest recruiters. In a unique twist, Wolf utilized Jones’ “brick by brick” campaign to commit (see picture).

With his pledge, he became the eighth member of the vitally important 2014 class. Wolf is rated as a 4-star recruit by Scout, and a 3-star by 247Sports and Rivals. Scout has him listed as the No. 7 tight end in the nation.  In 2012, he caught 52 passes for 580 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has great hands, above average speed, and will certainly fit Jones’ offensive system which relies heavily on the tight end. Wolf routinely lines up in the slot and out wide, and has the needed athleticism to have a big impact in the passing game.

Though he needs to get stronger to withstand the rigors of the SEC, he’s a physical and tenacious blocker who won’t handicap the running game. The Vols don’t have an established player at the position and Wolf will have a good chance to see the field early next season. He has notable offers from Arkansas, Louisville, Kentucky, Nebraska, and N.C. State.
